Greg Healey writer and musician

“A social history of great depth and erudition.” The Spectator

“I gorged on this surprising and remarkable book.” Louder Than War

“Meticulous, absorbing and revelatory.” Shindig! Magazine

Greg Healey is a writer and musician with a wide portfolio of work. He is the author of three non-fiction books, including the critically acclaimed Not In Front of the Children: Hidden Histories in Kids’ TV. Described as ‘accessible and compelling’, this book was chosen as Shindig! Magazine’s book of the year, as well as a Goldmine Magazine and a Spectator reviewer pick of the year 2018.

Greg is also a music journalist, writing regularly for various print and online publications over the last 15 years. During this time his work has been praised for its insightful commentary across a variety of formats, including feature pieces and album reviews. He has interviewed and written about numerous industry figures, including Matt Berry and Noddy Holder. He has also written for Yorkshire Bylines.

As a musician Greg is the originator of and composer for The Lounge Bar Orchestra. Their music has been described in reviews as being ‘wonderfully immersive’ and ‘immaculately-realised’. Capturing the essence of the golden era of British film and television library music, it is married to an engaging and humorous fictional written narrative. The Lounge Bar Orchestra have released a string of vinyl EPs and albums on Fruits de Mer, Graham Duff’s Heaven’s Lathe, Benevolent Antenna and Morning Brake record labels over recent years.
